CFB Visits BronxNet To Discuss New Fellowship With CUNY​​ 

Demiana Rizkalla, Policy Analyst for the NYC Campaign Finance Board, and Patrick Hart, Program Director of the CUNY Institute for State and Local Governance, joined BronxTalk, BronxNet’s longest-running news program focusing on vital Bronx issues. They discussed Bronx voter participation trends and how this fellowship will increase voter participation in the borough.​​  

Jadel Munguia, Assistant Press Secretary for the NYC Campaign Finance Board, and Madeline Mendoza, a program fellow at the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club and a current senior at CUNY Baruch College, joined “Diálogo Abierto,” the Spanish-language news and talk program produced by BronxNet TV, to discuss Bronx voter participation trends, the upcoming 2026 state elections, and provide a general overview of the fellowship.​​ 

The NYC Campaign Finance Board, in partnership with the CUNY Institute for State & Local Governance, launched an inaugural Civic Engagement Fellowship, an innovative program designed to foster voter education and engagement in the Bronx by embedding CUNY students in community-based organizations (CBOs). This partnership aims to spark voter engagement by delivering accurate voter education and increasing community participation in New York City’s democratic process.​​  

Fellows are rising seniors at CUNY schools who, over the next two years, will learn about the communities they serve and co-design civic engagement strategies that meaningfully bring community members’ voices into the political conversation. Initiatives led by fellows will range from voter registration drives to policy education campaigns to hosting community meetings.​​
